Zigzag stitch sampler

A few weeks ago Queeniepatch introduced us to zigzag stitch in her Sunday Stitch School. I made an Aida sampler to give it a try. Last Saturday I only shared the first rows, today I’m going to share the remaining experiments.

In these 2 rows I experimented with the size of the zigzag stitch. The threads are yellow cotton a broder #25 and 2 threads of stranded pink floss.
Here I alternated the size of the zigzag stitch. The thread is perle 12.
Of course I also had to stitch a normal zigzag stitch in perle 8, but . . .
. . . it also looks great if you shift every other row.
I did the same with my alternated experiment in perle 12. I like these rows of bowties, but . . .
. . . when I shifted every other row it looks even better. Love this variation, it gives a very nice pattern.
And here’s my complete sampler. I enjoyed experimenting with zigzag stitch.

This year I’m participating in ICAD (Index Card A Day) again, it’s my second time. There’s a weekly theme with daily prompts. I share them on my Facebook blog the day I create them and I’ll write a weekly post with more info here. You can find the theme and prompts at Daisy Yellow.

On day 34 we got new meters in our meter cupboard. I used the waiting time to make my card.

Day 34
I made a collage inspired by Cecil Touchon for day 35. I've already used this technique a few years ago, you can read about that here.
Day 35
I used a photo of the painting Two Heads made by Karel Appel.
Two Heads by Karel Appel
My daughter got her diploma on day 36, so we had diner at a brasserie to celebrate this. I used a napkin to make a one staple collage to remember this day.

This card was my response to the sad news about the 6 year old Dutch boy Tijn Kolsteren. I used my daughter’s nail polish.
Day 37
My first trials with charcoal for day 38. I secured it with adhesive plastic. Not sure if I will use this again!

Doodling with markers for day 39, it was fun!
Day 39
And this morning I made a collage for day 40.
Day 40

ICAD 27-33

This year I’m participating in ICAD (Index Card A Day) again, it’s my second time. There’s a weekly theme with daily prompts. I share them on my Facebook blog the day I create them and I’ll write a weekly post with more info here. You can find the theme and prompts at Daisy Yellow.

Day 27 was inspired by the corners collage in Tammy’s Index Card Art Tutorials -Explore Pack.
Day 27
For day 28 I only used the prompt. It was inspired by this collage for the horizon prompt of Wonder31.
Day 28
When I read the prompt for day 29, this song popped into my head. I used origami paper, a fineliner, ink, a stamp and spray ink with a stencil.
Day 29
Prompt 30 was a big challenge. But after looking for inspiration at Pinterest I knew I wanted to make a 3D version of the prompt.
Day 30
I used a cheap watercolour set to paint my card.
Day 30 in progress
Prompt 31 was the start of the second month. I used wallpaper, painted book pages and a magazine clipping for my one staple collage.
Day 31
When I finished this card, I found a surprise in my mailbox. Sharon’s book finally arrived! Of course I flipped through the pages, but I’m looking forward to read it when ICAD is finished.
Another collage for day 32. Toetje in de woestijn is Dutch for dessert in the desert.
Day 32
And this morning I made another collage for day 33. I used painted book pages, origami paper, a paper flower, stickers, staples, a bracelet from my husband’s yoga-weekend and an old glue resist inchie with French knots. You can read more about this inchie here.
