Whipped chain stitch

TAST stitch 76 is whipped chain stitch in 2 variations. TAST stands for Take A Stitch Tuesday, an embroidery challenge at Pin Tangle.
Until this week I only knew one variation of whipped chain stitch. So I just had to make a sampler of both variations. The first variation is done in perle 8 and whipped in Caron Wildflowers. The second variation is done in perle 5 and whipped in wool. It reminds me of the magic chain stitch.
My first experiment was a combo of both variations. I stitched chain stitch in perle 8 and alternated the whipping in perle 12. One stitch in variation 1 and one stitch in variation 2. I stitched variation 1 again in the second half of variation 2, which resulted in a cross. I like how this turned out.
My next experiment was with the open chain stitch, which is stitch 15 at Queenie’s Sunday Stitch School. I stitched open chain stitch in 2 threads of stranded floss and whipped it in DMC perle 5 color variations. I used the second variation.
My last experiment is a beaded variation.  I used perle 5 for the chain stitch and whipped it in perle 12 and 2mm beads.

Wonder31

I finished prompts 4-7 of Daisy Yellow’s Wonder31 prompts in my altered book Rooie. Prompt 4 was easy, I just digitized a cute old photo and had to use it. Bloemen plukken is Dutch for picking flowers and Landsmeer is a town near Amsterdam.
Prompt 4 - 1960's
Prompt 5 reminded me of my origami paper collection.
Prompt 5 - Collection
Prompt 6 was not so easy. I don’t like coffee, so what to do with the espresso prompt? Luckily I found an advertisement and used that as my starting point.
Prompt 6 - Espresso
Prompt 7 reminded me of a basic origami fold. I turned them into flowers and made a garden spread.
Prompt 7 - Pinwheel

Doily canvas

When I was reorganizing my photos I found the missing photos of a doily canvas I made for a friend. She gave me a pile of doilies to use in my CQ. They were made by her mother many years ago. I wanted to make something for her with a few of these doilies, before using them in CQ. This canvas was inspired by a doily canvas I saw at Pinterest, unfortunately the link doesn’t work anymore.
